Today’s song is Sam Smith’s Writing’s On The Wall, the song from the latest Bond movie Spectre which premières tonight in London. It was the first ever Bond theme to reach #1 in the UK charts, and received mixed reviews in comparison to other Bond themes, many linked to the speed with which it was written. Sam Smith and his collaborator Jimmy Napes apparently wrote it in under half an hour and recorded a quick demo. They were so pleased with Smith’s vocal they decided to use this demo vocal on the final release of the single.
